2. 8 MW cogen plant will pay for itself in 3 years
A cogeneration installation, built around a gas turbine generator set and supplementary-fired heat recovery boiler, provides 2800 kW of base load electric power plus 33,000 lbs per hour process steam - at 72% overall efficiency for combined steam and power production. The cogeneration plant is designed around a Solar Centaur gas turbine gen set - with water injection for emission control - exhausting into a supplementary-fired Deltak heat recovery steam generator (HRSG). In normal service the gas turbine is run at its base load output while the steam production varies to match factory load. In this base load output mode, the gas turbine gen set serves a little over 50% of the factory's electrical requirements while the HRSG, with supplementary firing, can supply up to 80% of the steam demand - at a net plant efficiency of over 70%.
