Fracturing process and impregnated propping agent for use therein

In a fracturing process, an impregnated propping agent is used that consists of hard granular particles of plant seeds impregnated throughout with a resin insoluble in oil and in water. The size of seed particles is in the range of 4 to 40 mesh in the US Sieve Series. The propping agent can be shells of black walnuts. The resin can be an epoxy resin or a furfuryl alcohol resin. The particles have a roundness and sphericity in excess of about 0.7.
