Marathon Oil Co.'s largest micellar flood-the 119-R project in Robinson Oil Field, Crawford County, Ill.-is still producing and has a remaining life of 1 to 2 years. This Maraflood oil-recovery test covers 40 acres and has produced more than one-third of the estimated oil in place after waterflooding. Producing rate reached a peak near 1,700 bbl per week when cumulative injection was 70% of pore volume. Oil cut peaked out at 22% at about the same time. Graphical representations show the production history of Marathon's 119-R oil recovery project. Marathon engineers estimated residual oil in place, after waterflooding, in the 40-acre test tract to be 600,000 bbl. In an earlier report, recovery by the fall of 1971 was given at 100,000 bbl. As of Dec. 1, 1973, recovery had reached 225,000 bbl and the project was making just under 100 bpd. The company expects the project to run at least another year and perhaps longer. A discussion of the site, well spacing, and polymer solution is given.
