Process for inhibiting corrosion

Patent ·
OSTI ID:6602510

The contact between a metal and a corrosive medium such as an acid, may exist under normal operating conditions or may occur only periodically when an acid is utilized for cleaning. In the latter instance, corrosion problems are generally quite severe due to the fact that solutions of acids which may be at high temperatures are utilized in order to properly clean the equipment. A method for preventing corrosion of metals by an acidic environment utilizes a corrosion inhibitor which is the reaction product of an amine having a number of primary or secondary amino groups and an aldehyde or ketone.
