Creative financing for energy conservation and cogeneration

Book ·
OSTI ID:6601273
Today it is innovative financing, not technology, which propels the development of advanced energy systems. The process must synthesize contradictory needs of system owners and financing agencies, and resolve federal and state regulatory and tax questions. Major financing projects require a large volume of supporting documentation, but there are simpler methods for smaller projects and smaller companies. The contributing authors are actively engaged in creating or implementing financing arrangements. Their 17 chapters describe guaranteed savings, energy services companies and contracts, shared savings, cogeneration system financing and ownership alternatives, leveraged leasing and limited partnership, state policies, tax-exempt revenue bonds, federal regulations, and tax credits. Three appendices offer a checklist of planning considerations, a directory of firms providing energy-system retrofit services, and a sample shared-savings agreement.
