Problems facing fuel oil marketers are discussed. The 1983-84 season was difficult because fuel oil prices were very unstable. The prices fluctuated so widely that much credibility was lost. The winter had been much colder than the previous one. Burners had to work harder, yet servicing costs were held in line. From the survey it was concluded that the service departments were performing well. No longer are they seen as a drain on company projects. The service department can and does make money for most companies and at the same time keeps the customers satisfied.
