Branching-ratio predictions for the iota (1440)

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6596231

A simple pole model is used to predict iota ..-->.. delta ..pi.., rho ..gamma.., ..omega gamma.., phi ..gamma.., rho ..pi pi.., and eta ..pi pi... The rates iota ..-->.. eta ..pi pi.. and iota ..-->.. K anti K..pi.. are examined in detail. In the pole model the rate iota ..-->.. eta ..pi pi.. is compared to eta' ..-->.. eta ..pi pi.. and we have the prediction B(iota ..-->.. eta ..pi pi..)/B(iota ..-->.. K anti K..pi..) = 10%. A direct calculation that takes into account the cancellation between iota ..-->.. delta ..pi.. ..-->.. (eta ..pi..)..pi.. and iota ..-->.. eta epsilon ..-->.. eta(..pi pi..), the K anti K threshold and SU(3) violations seen in the decay of the delta, predicts 20% less than or equal to B(iota ..-->.. eta ..pi pi..)/B(iota ..-->.. K anti K..pi.. less than or equal to 110%. Both calculations are consistent with the experimental limit of 50%.
