Branching-ratio predictions for the iota(1440)

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. D; (United States)

A simple pole model is used to predict iota..-->..delta..pi.., rho..gamma.., ..omega gamma.., phi..gamma.., rho..pi pi.., and eta..pi pi... The rates iota..-->..eta..pi pi.. and iota..-->..KK-bar..pi.. are examined in detail. In the pole model the rate iota..-->..eta..pi pi.. is compared to eta'..-->..eta..pi pi.. and we have the prediction B(iota..-->..eta..pi pi..)/B(iota..-->..KK-bar..pi..) = 10%. A direct calculation that takes into account the cancellation between iota..-->..delta..pi -->..(eta..pi..)..pi.. and iota..-->..etaepsilon..-->..eta(..pi pi..), the KK-bar threshold, and SU(3) violations seen in the decay of the delta, predicts 20%< or =B(iota..-->..eta..pi pi..)/B(iota..-->..KK-bar..pi..),< or =110%. Both calculations are consistent with the experimental limit of 50%.
