Evaluation of simultaneous vibroseis recording
The method of Vibroseis recording necessitates the use of a long duration signal and the adding together of several records. The reduction in vibroseis acquisition time can, therefore, have an important impact on the total production of a seismic crew. In this paper, they present acquisition methods with the potential of improving the acquisition time. The improvements in acquisition time result from optimum use of vibrator groups, preserving the same equivalent data quality as conventional procedures. Standard vibroseis recording methods deploy one source group for sequential acquisition of vibrator points. One technique, referred to as simultaneous recording, allows the acquisition of two vibrator points simultaneously. Thus, there is a potential increase in the number of vibrator points acquired per day. Other data acquisition techniques can also provide improved production over standard methods of recording.
