Effects of gas pressure on the output of transverse flow CO/sub 2/ lasers

Journal Article · · Chin. Phys. Lasers; (United States)
OSTI ID:6594270
Based on the measured parameters of high-pressure transverse flow discharge CO/sub 2/ lasers and their dependence on gas pressure, simulated computer calculations have been made on the theoretical output power, efficiency, and coupling as functions of the operating gas pressure. The results indicate that the optimum output of a high-pressure CO/sub 2/ laser can be achieved at an operating pressure of 1 atm and its cw output would be cut off at a pressure of 2 atm.
