Canadian soil quality guidelines for pentachlorophenol: Environmental and human health

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:658780

This report reviews the sources and emissions of pentachlorophenol (PCP), its distribution and behaviour in the environment, and its toxicological effects on humans, plants, animals, and soil micro-organisms. This information is used to derive guidelines for PCP to protect ecological receptors for agricultural, residential/parkland, commercial, and industrial land uses. An alternative protocol was used to derive human health soil quality guidelines for agricultural, residential, commercial, and industrial land uses. Background information is included on PCP physical and chemical properties, analytical methods, and PCP contamination levels found in various environmental media in Canada.
