[ital K][sub [ital L][ital e]5] decay as a background in the search for [ital K][sub [ital L]][r arrow][pi][sup 0][mu][sup [plus minus]][ital e][sup [minus plus]]

We consider a process [ital K][sub [ital L][ital e]5] ([ital K][sub [ital L]][r arrow][pi][sup 0][pi][sup 0][pi][sup [plus minus]][ital e][sup [minus plus]][nu]) as a standard model background to the experiment [ital K][sub [ital L]][r arrow][pi][sup 0][mu][sup [plus minus]][ital e][sup [minus plus]], which seeks for the possible violation of lepton family number. Using the lowest order chiral Lagrangian, we find the branching ratio for [ital K][sub [ital L]][r arrow][pi][sup 0][pi][sup 0][pi][sup [plus minus]][ital e][sup [minus plus]][nu] to be 6.2[times]10[sup [minus]12]. A similar decay [ital K][sub [ital L]][r arrow][pi][sup [minus plus]][pi][sup [minus plus]][pi][sup [plus minus]][ital e][sup [plus minus]][nu] has a branching ratio 1.7[times]10[sup [minus]11].
