Prediction of the supercompressibility factor for wet or sour natural gases to meet pipeline custody-transfer specifications has been achieved with modification of an equation of state developed for dry, sweet gases. The equation was developed to meet gas-industry concern over limited applicability of the NX-19 supercompressibility factor calculation method for custody transfer. Sponsored by the Gas Research Institute, Chicago, the research was initiated in 1981 at the University of Oklahoma. Phase 1 of the project targeted dry, sweet natural gases including carbon dioxide. It was completed in 1984, whereupon Phase 2 - targeting wet, sour gases - was initiated. Present here are the results of Phase 2 research.
