Organic compounds are provided which are useful as inhibitors for reducing the corrosion of various metals by mineral acid solutions. These inhibitors remain effective in the acidizing processes over a wide range of temperature. They also remain effective for a sufficient length of time to permit normal acidizing operations to be completed in safety. The inhibitors consist of the reaction products of a primary amine compound with an alkylene dihalide. These inhibitors are high-quaternary ammonium halide salts, and mixtures of such salts, all products of the reaction between the above-mentioned reactants. Inhibitors prepared from such a pyridine compound will have sufficient solubility at ambient temperature to permit an effective amount of such inhibitor to be dissolved in the acid solution.
