Do quasars rotate

The kinematic of gaseous disks in quasars and Seyfert galaxies is reexamined. Orbiting clouds either have short lifetimes to radiation and matter drag or are unable to produce the observed line flux. Photoionization of fully gaseous disks is in conflict with either the observed uniformity of line profiles for all ions of the lack of a strong correlation between observed time variations in the nonsteller continuum and in the line spectrum.
