Conformational effects in alkoxy radicals

An alkoxy radical was identified in single crystals of cytidine-3'- monophosphate x irradiated at 4.2 /sup 0/K. Proton hyperfine couplings associated with the alkoxy radical absorption were determined from ENDOR measurements. The magnitudes of ..beta.. as well as ..gamma.. proton couplings are dependent upon the conformation of the radical. The conformation of alkoxy radicals is analyzed in terms of two dihedral angles and related to observed coupling tensors.
