A survey of FGD sludge disposal practices covers wet disposal systems, including simple ponding, thickening and ponding, and wet disposal with fixation using the Dravo Corp. system; dry disposal systems, including interim ponding, vacuum filtration, dewatering and blending, the use of cementitious without commercial fixation, and commercial fixation with the IU Conversion Systems Inc. (IUCS) process; three variations of Dravo's FGD sludge stabilization process, including full impoundment, interim ponding, and mechanical dewatering; the IUCS Poz-O-Tec process; and estimates of the revenue requirements for fixation.
