H II regions and star formation in galaxies

The relation between H II regions and star formation is examined. The manner in which the number, location, size distribution, H-alpha emission, luminosity function, and structure of H II regions differ for galaxies of different Hubble type is analyzed; the differences in H II regions observed for different Hubble-type galaxies are described. 22 references.
