Flowsheet for hydrogenation gases for (proposed) installation Scholven III (in German)

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6570339
In this flowsheet, all amounts of gas given were values corrected to standard conditions of 15/sup 0/C and 735 mm of mercury. At each stage of processing was given the estimate of total amount of gas per hour at that stage (m/sup 3//hr) and an estimated breakdown of percentage composition into the gases carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, hydrogen, nitrogen, methane, ethane, propane, butane, and pentane. As the product left the liquid-phase chamber, it was to be decompressed from 700 atm to 50 atm. The gases coming off, mainly hydrogen, methane, and carbon monoxide, were to be sent to the Linde installation for fractionating and recovery of hydrogen. As the product was further decompressed to 1 atm, gases which were mainly hydrocarbons would come off and be sent to the gasoline- and butane-removal stages. Gases from distillation of the liquid product were also sent there. After those stages, the remaining gases were to be sent to the Linde installation. The gases from centrifuging and then carbonization of the solid residues from the liquid-phase chambers were to be used as heating gases, primarily. Gases from the vapor-phase chambers were to be handled similarly, except that the decompression stages were to be from 300 to 30 to 1 atm, there was to be an oil wash after the first stage, and there were to be two distillation stages for liquid product (the last step a stabilization stage). The circulating gas wash was also to be handled similarly, except that the decompression stages were to be from 700 atm to 50 atm to 1 atm to a vacuum, and there was to be no distillation. As before, gases from the first decompression were to go to the Linde installation, and gases from the other stages to the gasoline- and butane-removal stages. 1 flowsheet.
