Waterflooding thin lime zone ups recovery 1. 2 million barrels

Journal Article · · World Oil; (United States)
OSTI ID:6569835
The Horsehead Pettit lime reservoir, Columbia County, Ark., is being successfully waterflooded using a 160 acre 5-spot pattern which was obtained by converting alternate producers to injection service. In operation for some 8 yr, the flood now is in its final stages. Total secondary oil recovery from the zone, which has an effective thickness of only 5-1/2 ft and originally covered some 2,600 acres, is 1.2 million bbl, or a 44% increase over primary recovery. This compares closely with an originally predicted recovery of 1.3 million bbl of oil. This article describes operation and results of the flood, and compares its overall performance with that predicted some 8 yr ago.
