This study is structured as follows. It contains a review of the developments in the energy picture in OECD countries up to 1973. It outlines the important events that took place in the oil market during the period 1973-1988. Changes in crude-oil demand and supply brought about by the price increases during the 1970s are discussed. This book contains the discussion pertaining to the implications of the price decline for demand, and looks at the supply effects of the price decline. The outlook for the world oil market is examined.
