Spectrofluorimetric determination of Y(III) with 1-hydroxy-2-carboxyanthraquinone

The complex formed between 1-hydroxy-2-carboxyanthraquinone and yttrium (III) has been studied spectrofluorimetrically in an ethanolic-water medium (70/30% V/V) at pH = 3.6. A very sensitive method for the spectrofluorimetric determination of yttrium traces is proposed (lambda/sub ex/ = 465 nm, lambda/sub em/ = 580 nm) for concentrations between 0.01 and 0.8 ..mu..g.ml/sup -1/. The stoichiometry of the complex is 1:1.
