On the half-life of /sup 180/Ta

A search has been made for ..gamma..-rays emitted following the electron-capture and/or ..beta../sup -/ decay of /sup 180/Ta. No excess of counts above background was observed in the vicinity of any of the expected ..gamma..-ray energies. From these results, lower limits on the half-lives of /sup 180/Ta against electron capture and ..beta../sup -/ decay have been determined to be greater than or equal to 3.3 x 10/sup 14/ years and greater than or equal to 2.9 x 10/sup 14/ years respectively.
