This paper describes a molecular sieve regenerating process. It comprises: stopping the flow of sour liquid hydrocarbon to a bed of molecular sieves in a hydrocarbon sorption plant, draining liquid hydrocarbon from the bed of molecular sieves, purging the bed with a heated gaseous hydrocarbon until substantial amounts of sponged hydrocarbon has been removed from the bed, regenerating the purged bed by contact with a gaseous hydrocarbon heated to a temperature sufficient to volatilize and desorb sulfur species from the molecular sieves, and cooling the regenerated bed.
