The values of the conventional standard electrode potentials E/sub UO/sub 2//sup +///sup *//UO/sub 2/, E/sub UO/sub 2//sup 2 +///sup *//UO/sub 2/, and the conventional formal oxidation-reduction potential E/sub UO/sub 2//sup 2 +///sup *//UO/sub 2//sup +//sup*/ as a function of temperature and the radius of the cation in molten alkali metal chlorides have been determined on the basis of the measurement of the equilibrium electrode potentials of uranium dioxide. The thermodynamics of the formation of dilute solutions of uranyl monochloride and dichloride solutions in the molten salts have been calculated. An expression has been found for the conventional equilibrium constant of the UO/sub 2/Cl/sub 2/ /sub (molten)/ + UO/sub 2/ sub/(s)/ = 2UO/sub 2/Cl sub/(molten)/ reaction as a function of temperature and the ionic moment of the alkali metal cation in the salt electrolytes which were investigated.
