More than 2200 listings of local publicly owned electric systems, organizations of these utilities, and Federal power agencies are included in this directory. Not included are: privately owned electric companies and rural electric cooperatives. Listings cover the following information: name, address, and telephone number of the utility; chief officer; year the system was established; number of meters served; generation by type, including steam, gas, turbine, internal combustion engine, and hydroelectric in kilowatts of capacity; power purchased at wholesale for latest full year; and annual electric revenues for the latest-available full year. Publicly owned electric utilities in 48 states, the Canal Zone, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam, and American Samoa are listed. (JMT)
