We obtain an exact form of the NN potential starting from the cluster decomposition of the full six-quark wave function into a two-nucleon term and a six-quark bag function. The resulting potential is nonlocal and energy dependent with coefficients which can be obtained phenomenologically as well as theoretically. Stringent conditions exist for these coefficients. As an example we present the NN potentials for /sup 1/S/sub 0/ and /sup 3/S/sub 1/ states. We consider the properties of the wave functions in configuration space as well as in momentum space, and compare them with the properties of known realistic potentials.
