The rate constants for the reaction of a series of hydroxyalkyl radicals with molecular oxygen have been measured at room temperature (296 {plus minus} 4 K) by laser flash photolysis-photoionization mass spectrometry. Measured rate constants are k(CH{sub 2}OH+O{sub 2}) = (1.17 {plus minus} 0.12) {times} 10{sup {minus}11}, k(CH{sub 3}CH{sub 2}CHOH+O{sub 2}) = (2.61 {plus minus} 0.41) {times} 10{sup {minus}11}, k(CH{sub 3}C(OH)CH{sub 3}+O{sub 2}) = (3.71 {plus minus} 0.62) {times} 10{sup {minus}11}, all in units of cm{sup 3} molecule{sup {minus}1} s{sup {minus}1}.
