/sup 40/Ca(p, p. cap alpha. )/sup 36/Ar reaction in a noncoplanar geometry

The /sup 40/Ca(p,p..cap alpha..)/sup 36/Ar reaction has been measured at E/sub p/ = 101.3 MeV for coplanar quasifree angle pairs (q/sub p/ = 70/sup 0/, q/sub a/ = -45.7/sup 0/) and out-of-plane angles b = 0/sup 0/, 5/sup 0/, 10/sup 0/, 15/sup 0/, and 20/sup 0/. Distorted-wave impulse approximation calculations reproduce the shape of the energy sharing distributions and provide spectroscopic factors in agreement with previous work on knockout and transfer reactions.
