Direct and preequilibrium processes studied in the /sup 51/V(. cap alpha. ,. cap alpha. 'p) reaction at E/sub. cap alpha. / = 172. 5 MeV

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. C; (United States)
The reaction /sup 51/V(..cap alpha..,..cap alpha..'p) at E/sub ..cap alpha../ = 172.5 MeV is studied by measuring in-plane correlations at large angles. The data show the presence of two different reaction mechanisms: a direct proton knockout which was analyzed under the assumption of a quasifree process in terms of the distorted-wave impulse approximation and deep inelastic processes which were reproduced by exciton coalescence model calculations.
