Recent US natural gas supply, consumption and price data

US natural gas production declined 1.6% in 1980 to a total of 20.15 trillion cubic feet (TCF). Texas and Louisiana continued to be both the top producers and consumers, although overall consumption declined in 1980 and prices rose substantially. Six tables summarize annual prices in all sectors since 1975, supply and consumption statistics by production and type of storage, and supply and consumption statistics by sector. The consumption data are also broken down by TCF and Btu consumption. The share of natural gas of the US energy supply has decreased from a peak level of 36% of domestic energy production and 33% of primary energy consumption in 1972 to 30% of production and 26% of consumption in 1980. The addition of natural gas liquids and lease condensate figures increases these totals. (DCK)
