Kemmerer creates largest coal pit

Large recoverable coal reserves have been discovered in south-western Wyoming. The Kemmerer Coal Co. has uncovered eight coal seams during truck and shovel overburden removal in the largest pit whilst scraper and dragline mining progresses in small pits with one to three seams. The Big Pit is mined in the design of an ore mine, and the blasting and extraction procedures are outlined. Plans for land reclamation and the ultimate destination of the coal is described.
