Title: Paramagnetic resonance of Cu/sup 2+/ ions in the superconductor Y/sub 0. 2/Ba/sub 0. 8/CuO/sub x/

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. B: Condens. Matter; (United States)

A strong paramagnetic resonance signal characteristic of Cu/sup 2+/ ions in chemically bondx/sup 2/-y/sup 2/> states is observed in the high-T/sub c/approx. =90 K superconductor Y/sub 0.2/Ba/sub 0.8/CuO/sub x/. The line intensity of the ioniclike signal shows a deviation from Curie behavior at Tapprox. >T/sub c/. It is speculated that the phase that is responsible for the signal is an example of an Anderson lattice with an unusually high Kondo temperature.
