A study of the surface interaction of a pitch binder and a coke filler in the production of graphites

The cokes obtained under various conditions of heat treatment of the surface possess specific adsorption capacities with respect to organic liquids of different polarities and pitches of different natures. By choosing a lyophilic filler and a lyophilic binder, an improvement in the wetting of the filler, an increase in the amount of coke residue from the binder, and an improvement in the properties of the graphite are achieved.
