Toward a theory of weak hadronic decays of charmed mesons

We consider weak decays of the charmed mesons D and F. We develop a new scheme for calculating the amplitudes of two-particle nonleptonic decays based on QCD sum rules. We discuss the basic aspects of the scheme, which gives practically model-independent predictions for the partial widths of the decays.
