Weak nonleptonic decays of charmed mesons. Comparing theory with experiment

On the basis of a method developed earlier by the authors we determine the partial widths of weak nonleptonic decays of charmed mesons. We obtain an estimate for the ratio of the lifetimes of the D and D mesons.
