An economical, continuous gas-lift process capable of employing the vapor phase of a produced liquid is provided. Gas is injected through the wellbore annulus at a pressure just sufficient to cause it to pass down to the liquid level in the casing. The bottom end of the gas lift tube is placed immediately above this level to allow the passage of gas and fluid. A pressure differential, established between the casing and the gas lift tube, results in lifting the liquids. The mixture recovered at the surface is continually passed through a gas-liquid separating zone where the lift gas is separated for recycling. (11 claims)
