Journal Article · · Power; (United States)
OSTI ID:6490671
The experience of one of the Kwinana power plants in Western Australia in converting large oil-fired boilers to coal firing is described. It is shown that any oil-designed unit can be converted to burn coal, provided that the owners are prepared to accept some limitations in capacity and availability. Coal handling problems, ash collection systems, air pollution control to meet US EPA standards, and boiler control changes are described.
