Evaluation of available protocols for the rapid analysis of hydrostatic test water discharges. Volume 5. Topical report, May 1990-May 1992

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6487935
The report evaluates the various test kits or rapid analysis methods that are available for use in the field for rapid analysis of hydrostatic test water discharges. Hydrostatic test waters can contain constituents such as oil and grease, iron, petroleum hydrocarbons, trace elements and trace organics. Various state agencies have a full range of permitting requirements for discharge of the test water, as well as different requirements for the sampling and analysis of discharged test water to ensure compliance. Depending on the types of analyses required, laboratory testing may require several days to weeks to perform. To the extent rapid analysis protocols could be used to quantify key regulated parameters, the time and cost associated with performing a hydrostatic test could be reduced. The report is Volume 5 of a five-volume report series.
