Fusion measurements in light- and medium-mass heavy-ion reactions. Progress report, June 1, 1982-May 31, 1983

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6486142
The collaboration of Notre Dame with physicists there and at Michigan State on measurements of the entry lines in residues from the fusion of /sup 16/O and /sup 12/C has continued. Measurements of , , and have been made and analysis of these are almost complete. Measurements of and have also been made and analysis is in progress. Additional measurements on the unusual properties of the /sup 12/C(/sup 16/O,..cap alpha.. ..gamma..) /sup 24/Mg reaction are planned. Preliminary reports on the first three sets of measurements have been made. Collaboration at Argonne using the ATLAS facility have continued. These have included fusion measurements with beams of /sup 32/S and /sup 64/Ni on Sn isotopes and some heavier targets. More recently, time-of-flight measurements of the fusion of /sup 16/O and /sup 28/Si beams with lighter targets, /sup 12/C to /sup 40/Ca, have been made to evaluate the importance of pre-equilibrium emission.
