This article describes EPRI's work on atmospheric fluidised bed combustion. So far this has been carried out in a 6ft x 6ft, 2 MW(e) development facility, but a 20 MW (e) pilot plant was due to come into operation in May, 1982. Later it is hoped to have a demonstration plant in the 100-200 MW(e) range.
