EOR + CO/sub 2/ = a gas-processing challenge

Journal Article · · Oil Gas J.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6485326
As carbon dioxide flooding becomes a more popular method of tertiary enhanced oil recovery, associated gases will contain growing amounts of CO/sub 2/, leading to greater volumes of gas requiring CO/sub 2/ removal. Production operators can economically adapt to these new requirements by installing satellite processing plants to remove most of the CO/sub 2/ before sending the gas to the central processing plant. The design of the satellite plant must consider the type of CO/sub 2/-removal process, compression requirements for reinjecting the CO/sub 2/, hydrocarbon dewpoint control, corrosion control, and sulfur treating.
