Cogeneration feasibility in Michigan for agricultural plants

Conference · · ASAE Tech. Pap.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6484057
The goal of the project was to compile information that could be used to evaluate using steam energy from the nuclear plant in Midland for agricultural plants. The purposes of this background paper is to suggest candidate ventures that might be successful at Midland, and to compile some relevant information and references. Firms in the corn wet milling industry are obvious candidates. It is possible that certain produce, such as greenhouse vegetables or soymeal, could be produced more economically in Michigan than being transported into Michigan from distant areas. Innovative ventures, such as an air inflated recreational golf driving range using steam heat, seem to be well suited to the regional characteristics of Midland. 25 refs.
