Nutrients and toxic substances in water for livestock and poultry

This volume summarizes the effects on domestic animals of known substances in the water they consume. It discusses the composition of various water supplies and presents information on the water requirements of beef and dairy cattle, sheep, swine, horses, and poultry. It also evaluates the nutritional benefits of several elements found in water and offers a guide to the use of saline water for livestock. Potentially toxic substances are considered with regard to their effect on growth, reproduction, longevity, and build-up in edible tissues and products. Brief attention is given to toxic algae, radionuclides, and pesticides.
