Carbon dioxide gasdynamic laser with optical feedback utilizing cascade transitions

Journal Article · · Sov. J. Quant. Electron. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)

It is shown that the specific energy characteristics of the pulse-periodic emission from a cascade CO/sub 2/ gasdynamic laser, utilizing the coupled 00/sup 0/1--02/sup 0/0--01/sup 1/0 transitions, can be improved by optical feedback with utilizing 10.4 ..mu.. cw radiation generated by the same laser. It is shown that such feedback enables the specific output energy of the long-wavelength (lambda = 16.2 ..mu..) cascade transition to be more than doubled.
