First operation of multijunction launcher on JT-60

Conference · · AIP Conference Proceedings (American Institute of Physics); (USA)
OSTI ID:6476667
The multijunction launcher was designed to improve the directivity of the launched waves with a narrow wavenumber spectrum by dividing the main waveguide into three of secondary waveguides. The coupling agrees fairly well with the theory and the power of more than 2.75 MW has been coupled to a plasma in a few week conditioning. The dependence of the current drive efficiency on the wavespectrum from the multijunction launcher agrees well qualitatively with the Fisch's theory. The current drive efficiency of the multijunction launcher was improved by 40% compared with the previous conventional launcher on JT-60.
