Gas energy supply outlook: 1980-2000. A report of the AGA Gas Supply Committee

Book ·
OSTI ID:6475104
The A.G.A. Gas Supply Committee has undertaken a comprehensive 2-year assessment of the outlook for conventional and supplemental sources of gas energy in the USA to the year 2000. This analysis was performed without regard to demand constraints and included convention lower 48 states gas and supplemental sources of gas supply. Highlights of the findings include: overall sufficient gas energy will be available in the year 2000 to supply at least 25% of the nation's total energy needs; a range of 23 to 33 Tcf will be available in the year 2000; an unprecidented capital investment will be required by the gas industry to make these levels of gas supplies available. Four policy scenarios are described in this study. One scenario emphasizes US sources only; one emphasizes North American sources; one mildly restricts oversea gas supplies; and one assumes that gas is available anywhere in the world.
