This paper focuses on the mapping problem (resource allocation) for reconfigurable multicomputer architecture based on banyan interconnection networks. The authors present analytic solutions to several mapping questions for four commonly used problem structures (ring, pipeline, broadcast, and macropipeline) with respect to the general case of regular rectangular banyan with arbitrary fanout f and arbitrary number of levels L. It is shown that the results on the mapping problem are applicable to many of the networks which are currently under research and development.
