Resource allocation for a class of problem structures in multistage interconnection network-based systems

In the paper a resource allocation problem in reconfigurable multimicrocomputer systems with multistage interconnection networks is studied. Four system models based on rectangular sw-Banyan with arbitrary fanout are introduced and four commonly used problem structures such as ring, pipeline, broadcast and macropipeline are analyzed. The mapping problem of these structures onto each of the system models, which is comparable to the resource allocation problem, is discussed and analytical solutions to several questions relevant to the mapping problem are presented. 12 references.
