Investigations undertaken during this report period are: (1) syntheses and characterization of 8 chromium and 2 cobalt complexes; aquation, anation, base hydrolysis and isomerization reactions of cobalt, iridium, and chromium complexes; redox reactions of cobalt and chromium complexes. The following new complexes were synthesized and their absorption spectra reported: (1) Tetraaquo(1-azonia-4,7-diazaheptane)chromium(III) Cation; (2) Pentaaquo(1,7-diazonia-4-azaheptane)chromium(III) Cation or Pentaaquo(1,4-diazonia-7-azaheptane)chromium(III) Cation; (3) Aquotetraethylenepentaamine Complexes of Chromium(III) with a Partially Unwrapped Tetren Ligand; (4) Aquotriethylenetetraamine Complexes of Chromium(III) with a Partially Unwrapped Trien Ligand; (5) cis- and trans-Dichlorotriaquoamminechromium(III) Cations; (6) Blue-Violet Chlorotetraaquoamminechromium(III) Cation; (7) Chloroaquobis(2,2'-dipyridyl)chromium(III) Cation; (8) Chloroaquodiethylenetriamine Complexes of Cobalt(III); (9) A Sulfatodiethylenetriamine Complex of Cobalt(III); and (10) ..cap alpha..BR- and ..cap alpha..BS-Acidotetraethylenepentaaminecobalt(III) Cations.
